Jenson Button has split from girlfriend Jessica Michibata after an 18-month romance.
The Formula One star ended his relationship with the Japanese lingerie model after the pressure of their long-distance romance took its toll, according to The Sun.
A spokesman for the racing car driver confirmed: “Jenson is single again. He and Jessica have gone their separate ways.”
Meanwhile, a source close to Button said that their partnership became “impossible to maintain” because Michibata was keen to stay living in Tokyo. The pair had been embarking on lengthy commutes in order to see each other regularly.
The insider said: “Just over a week ago Jenson reluctantly decided that his racing must be his main priority. He was forced to make the unpleasant decision to split to focus on his racing. There is no-one else involved.”
Button’s previous girlfriends include Fame Academy star Louise Griffiths, actress Rose McGowan and model Florence Brudenell-Bruce.
